Craig Williams, the Foreign Secretary and the Ambassador went to Welshpool based Invertek, whose Japanese parent company is Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd, for an event celebrating the company’s 25th anniversary. The visit also featured the official opening of Invertek’s state-of-the-art variable frequency drive international application and training centre.

“It was fantastic to welcome the Foreign Secretary and the Japanese Ambassador to Invertek, for their 25th Anniversary celebrations and to officially open their new international application and training centre.
“Invertek are a brilliant example of a Montgomeryshire bred and grown business, which has spread its wings around the world at the forefront of revolutionising motor control technology. The company has now received inward investment from Japan and now employs over 400 people globally.”
“During his visit, His Excellency Mr Hajime Hayashi described Invertek ‘as an excellent example for other Japanese companies within the UK to take inspiration from’, and I couldn’t agree more.”
This week, thousands of victims who were infected with contaminated blood have received a national apology from the Prime Minister for this historic scandal.
