Craig Williams MP is urging residents within Tregynon, Llanbrynmair and Kerry to sign up for UK Government broadband vouchers, which can be used to enable ultrafast broadband within their communities through new fibre partnership schemes.
Three new pathfinder schemes have been launched within these areas by Openreach in conjunction with Powys County Council, which will utilise the UK Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.
Properties within Tregynon, Llanbrynmair and Kerry are now eligible to improve their broadband speeds under the scheme, with residents able to claim a free broadband voucher worth £4,500 funded by Building Digital UK (BDUK), towards building an Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband network within their community. Applications for vouchers can be made at https://gigabitvoucher.culture.gov.uk/
Openreach is urging residents and businesses to apply for the vouchers, which can then be used to provide fibre to the premises (FTTP) broadband through their Fibre Community Partnership programme, delivering demand-led fibre partnerships within these communities.
In support of the projects, Openreach have asked residents and businesses to pledge their BDUK vouchers on their Connect My Community website at www.openreach.co.uk/connectmycommunity
Craig Williams MP said:
“This is a brilliant opportunity for over 1,000 premises within Tregynon, Llanbrynmair and Kerry to have access to an ultrafast and reliable broadband service, by utilising UK Government support and funding.
“Using the broadband vouchers will help deliver a new FTTP infrastructure within the communities through Openreach’s Fibre Community Partnership programme. Applying for the vouchers will not cost residents a penny, but Openreach state that the schemes will be reliant on enough people signing up and pledging their vouchers within their areas.
“I would therefore urge all residents and businesses within Tregynon, Llanbrynmair and Kerry to apply for your voucher and register your interest with Openreach.”
