Craig Williams, Welsh Conservative MP for Montgomeryshire, is delighted to announce that five Montgomeryshire businesses have reached the Welsh finals of the 2024 Countryside Alliance Awards.
The Awards, dubbed as the ‘Rural Oscars’, are the Countryside Alliance’s annual celebration of British food & farming, enterprise and heritage through our small hard-working businesses. Now in their seventeenth year, the Awards have become the definitive rural business award to win.
The Montgomeryshire businesses who have been nominated are:
- Izzy’s Butchers (Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant), in the Butcher category
- Dolau Inn (Mochdre), in the Pub category
- Hel's Kitchen/Cwm Fedw Country Sports (Hirnant) in the Rural Enterprise category
- Llanymynech Village Shop and R H Bunner and Son Ltd (Montgomery), both in the Village Shop or Post Office category
The winners for the Wales regional awards will be announced at the Senedd on 27th February, where they will then go forward to compete against winners from across the UK in the grand final.
Craig Williams MP commented:
“The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate those businesses that go the extra mile and are the cornerstone of our rural communities. It is fantastic therefore to have these five amazing Montgomeryshire businesses named as Welsh regional finalists for this year’s Awards.
“It would be brilliant to bring a Rural Oscar back to Montgomeryshire, so let’s all get voting and champion their success!”
