Following a £15 million redevelopment, Craig Williams MP and Russell George MS visited the new wing of the Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital last Friday (30th June).
Providing a hub for local primary healthcare, mental health treatment, outpatient facilities, maternity and children’s clinics, the new facility is a great addition to health services for the Machynlleth and Dyfi Valley areas.
The new building has been structured using sustainable and environmental elements including solar panels, natural slate roof tiles, enhanced insulation, and triple glazing, as well as electric vehicle charging points throughout the site.
Craig Williams MP commented:
“I was delighted to have a tour of Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital. It was great to meet the staff and to hear about the new facilities and services being offered to the community of Machynlleth. The opportunity to bring the local GP practice under the same roof to work alongside services offering mental health, children’s clinics and maternity care is fantastic.”
“It was especially good to visit as we mark the 75th Anniversary of the NHS. The NHS is an essential pillar of this country, and this is a great opportunity to celebrate the NHS and all the brilliant staff, who on a daily basis provide care. This landmark of 75 years is a wonderful chance to reflect on its history and to look to the future.
“Our newly announced Long Term NHS Workforce Plan is a reflection of this Government’s continued commitment to the NHS and its staff, as we look to the next 75 years of the NHS.”
